  • Day of the Dead by Nicci French

Day of the Dead by Nicci French

In a Hampstead street on a Monday morning a young mother is walking her dog, her baby and her toddler up to the Pond. There is a sudden flash of speeding cars, the squeal of brakes resulting in a massive car crash. In the ensuing chaos there are traumatised children, injured adults and a dead driver.

Police investigations reveal that the man identified as the driver had been murdered a week before the crash. Curiouser and curiouser! What follows is a complex thriller involving woman psychologist Frieda Klein, whose name is on the murderer’s list of future victims. This is Nicci French at her page turning best.

Fabulous quotes

"And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer." F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
